M&S CCTV System Upgrade

Location:
Fenchurch Street, London
Sector:
Retail

A key requirement of our client was the upgrade of the existing CCTV system to meet the needs of the store management team and capable of supporting the operation at M&S Fenchurch Street.

Fundamental to our client was the design of a system that could flex and meet the operational challenges and demands in a busy retail environment.

Recognising the complexity of the task, FOUR Security took great care to meet another key requirement that of minimising trading disruption to the store. It was imperative that operations could not be interrupted throughout the project.

A further key client requirement was the provision of an auditable project waste procedure in compliance with M&S’s environmental policy.

FOUR Security were appointed to Design and Project Manage a new security system that would support their operational needs. A key challenge was the delivery of the project into a live operational store without disrupting trade and the mitigation of significant Health & Safety considerations by adopting a Safe by Design approach.

A full detailed survey of the site was undertaken including interviews with key stakeholders to establish their requirements. Using the information gathered a specification document was created to outline our proposal.

Our priority was the design of a system that would meet the specification whilst ensuring it was delivered safely, within budget and on time. Utilising our wide retail experience, our consultants, working in partnership with our key stakeholders including the store management team our approved contractors and suppliers, FOUR Security designed a CCTV system aligned to our client's requirements.

Recognising the importance of maintaining operational performance at the store, we created a programme that would minimise the disruption whilst ensuring the project would be delivered in a safe way.

Our approach includes building strong relationships with our clients. We do this by establishing clear lines of communication and getting things done right first time by listening actively and acting thoughtfully.

Our design incorporated the installation of over eighty new CCTV cameras utilising existing cabling infrastructure. By rationalising existing cabling we were able to reduce costs to our client whilst still upgrading camera performance.

The store CCTV control room recording and control equipment was upgraded by increasing storage and imaging quality. The new control room design had the additional benefit of improving the ergonomics and performance of the room.

Upon completion, our consultants provided a comprehensive training, Operations and Maintenance manual and asset details to support a smooth transition and maintenance handover.

Skilfully project managed, the design and installation was successfully delivered on time and within budget. FOUR Security delivered a cost effective, future facing CCTV system, capable of providing direct operational benefits. The store management team commented positively on the project and the system’s capability to support the safe and secure operation of the store.
