FOUR was engaged by Amazon UK to assist in the delivery of the security policy, procedures and physical security design across its entire UK estate of distibution centres. This involved the Identification, Risk Assessment and the project management of the subsequent installations.
The initial role was to identify areas where the cost of the systems could be reduced. This was achieved through detailed review of all quotations issued to Amazon over a 12 month period, whilst reviewing the latest tender documents for capability, cost, adherence to UK law such as the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and Data Protection Act.
FOUR produced a project saving in excess of 40%, whilst identifying new industry system products to allow the increase in security and operational capability, whilst reducing the infrastructure cost. The engagement with the ICO drove a policy change within the business, to ensure the compliance with UK law.
The identification of the true risk drove the understanding that, whilst their global policy met the needs of their current security risks of fulfilment centres, the risk to smaller delivery stations differed.
FOUR produced a policy for the UK Delivery Stations which was subsequently rolled out globally, taking into account local cultures.
